This year many of the faculty that had taught at the ABA Houston program, for some 20 years, return to Houston with a time-tested format. We have added new improved, and more sophisticated fact patterns for teaching those things that make family law lawyers more effective in the courtroom, both in actual trial and in motion practice.
As a practicing attorney, you know that being well prepared for trial makes you a more effective negotiator. When your colleagues learn that you have completed this program and have developed more powerful trial skills, you will also increase your negotiating powers because opposing counsel will know you will be ready and able to try your case.
When you attend this Houston Family Law trial Institute, your skills in planning the theme of your case will be enhanced. You will learn more effective ways to develop evidence to present at trial, more powerful ways to create and present your opening statement and your closing argument. You will greatly enhance your skills in conducting direct and cross-examination. You will learn how to better hone your use of evidentiary objections.
Our faculty has selected a more convenient venue with state of the art technology, as the host of the Houston Family Law Trial Institute. South Texas College of Law, is a nationally recognized leader in trial advocacy programs, winner of at least 100 competitive national advocacy programs and a law school with hi-tec facilities for the electronic recording of your classroom performances.
Our new Family Law Trial Institute will offer two separate programs. The Regular Program is limited to 6-8. The total number of attendees is limited to 48 in the Regular Program. Limiting class size to 6 allows for a maximum amount of individual instruction and limits the number of people on each side of the practice case to 4. So you will have more "on your feet" time and the opportunity to develop, use, and hone your advocacy skills under the guidance of at least 2 faculty members in your classroom. Your performance will be electronically recorded and you will then review it in private with another faculty member.
This is an intense 8 day program, starting with the morning introductory session promptly followed by the participants working in their classrooms, ultimately ending with a trial in a Houston, Texas Courtroom. All sessions will be electronically recorded, including the trial, so you have something to refer to when you return home. You will be astounded by your progress!
The Advanced Program in 2010 will focus on complex financial issues, including business valuation. The Advanced Program is limited to 6 persons. Detailed description of this program is forthcoming.
There is no other program in the country with this intense type of training and with our long-term experienced faculty.
The faculty believes that a realistic assessment of the 8 days at the Houston Family Law Trial Institute will be the equivalent of 6 or more years of courtroom experience.
Sign up early. Do not miss the opportunity.
